Professor Dr. Kesara was recognized for her research on the treatment of drug–resistant malaria and cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). The contribution from Professor Dr. Kesara's helped push malaria research in Thailand to meet international standards and her research was accepted by UNDP World Bank Special Program for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases: WHO/TDR. Professor Dr. Kesara publishes more than 400 research articles in both national and international journals with more than 5,000 citations. In the fiscal year 2021, Professor Dr. Kesara received National Research Council of Thailand awards from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation.
