The first president of LNAT

Associate Professor Kannikar Vichitsukon is a highly accomplished nursing professor at the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University. She completed her Bachelor of Nursing and Public Health from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and her Master of Science in Public Health from Mahidol University. Throughout her career, she has dedicated herself to teaching and transferring knowledge to fully develop nursing education. Her passion for breastfeeding education has made her a highly knowledgeable and capable academic in this field. She shares her knowledge through textbooks, articles, and research, which has been beneficial to the nursing profession and other medical personnel. She plays an important role in driving policies, developing curricula, and training nursing teachers to promote breastfeeding. Her efforts have been supported by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), which provides scholarships to nursing students and helps new graduates provide guidance and assistance to mothers who breastfeed. As a director of the Breastfeeding Center Foundation of Thailand and the director of the National Breastfeeding Conference, she has helped to create cooperation and solidarity among members and related networks to become a professional organization that plays a role in promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding. She is one of the founders of the Lactation Nurses Association of Thailand: LNAT and the first president of the association, aiming to improve the capacity of breastfeeding nurses and develop knowledge in breastfeeding. Furthermore, she has also dedicated herself to working for society by providing support and assistance to the operations of the foundation for vulnerable children in the Southern region, under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra. She has been involved in helping children, families, and network organizations in social development work for more than 22 years with contributions such as being a lecturer, providing knowledge and encouragement to caregivers and teachers of children in the community, and developing a curriculum to enhance the abilities of those caring for children aged 0-3.  She currently serves as the Secretary-General of the Foundation. Her commitment to academic and professional excellence, as well as her continuous dedication to working for the benefit of society, has been recognized through various awards. She was awarded the Excellent Practice Teaching Award and the Outstanding Nurse Award in the category of nursing education practitioner from the Nursing Council of Thailand. Additionally, she received the "Thara Award" in 2015 from the National Anti-Corruption Commission and was awarded the Mahidol Thayakorn Awards in 2020 by the Mahidol University Alumni Association, under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King. She was also selected by the National Council of Women of Thailand, under the Royal Patronage, as the "Outstanding Thai Woman of 2021."
