Prof, Dr. Ammarin Thakkinstian has been involved and working on various medical researches including therapeutic study/randomized controlled trial, cohort study, diagnostic study, risk/prognosis study, and systematic review and meta-analysis. Particularly a systematic review and meta-analysis,she has developed review methodology and meta-analysis for genetic association studies that has been published in key journals such as Journal of Clinical Epidemiology J Clin Epidemiol. 2003 Apr;56(4):297-303), American Journal of Epidemiology (Am J Epidemniol. 2005 Aug 1;162(3):201-11; 3) Am J Epidemiol. 2006 Nov 1:164(9):813-22) Am J Epidemiol. 2012 Sep 1;176(5):361-72) and Statistics in Medicine (Stat Med. 2005 May 15;24(9):1291-306). This method has been applied to many researches and increased many citations since then to currently. In addition, she has been involved in Health Technology Assessment Programs since 2017, and later has developed methods of meta-analysis in economic evaluation studies published in Value in Health (Value Health. 2019 Dec;22(12):1458-1469). Since then, meta-analysis has been applied for pooling data of economic evaluations and produced many findings afterward.

Furthermore, she has worked on real-world big data since 2019 to develop real-world databases of non-communicable diseases (i.e. diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, atrial fibrillation, and stroke) by utilizing routine clinical practice data in Ramathibodi Hospital. These real-word databases will be good resources for young investigators and will build up capacity of Mahidol University and other institutes in Thailand.

With her career path in research and educations, number of publications in peer review international journals in the Scopus database are 283 articles (accessed 11/01/2023) with 8664 citations and H-index of 51, The details are shown in the Figure below. As a result, she has been promoted as Professor of Medical Statistics in 2015 which is one Professor in the area in Thailand. Furthermore, she has been listed as world top 2%6 Scientists published in 2020-2022 by Elsevier BV (httos://elsevierdigitalcommonsdata.com/datasets/btchxktzyw/3), and this has been acknowledged by Mahidol University.
