A visionary through work that benefits society :
Clinical Prof. Emeritus Udom is a visionary leader who has significantly contributed to society and the nation. He has held notable positions such as former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, former President of Mahidol University, former Deputy Minister of Education, former Advisor to the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), and Chairperson of the National Health Reform Committee. His achievements include elevating the quality of healthcare services at Siriraj Hospital to obtain Advanced HA accreditation, the first hospital in Thailand to achieve this. He established policies and drove Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital to receive international JCI accreditation. His work with the National Health Reform Committee resulted in significant health reforms in five areas: 1. Reform of emergency public health management, including national epidemics and emerging diseases. 2. Enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of health promotion, health literacy, and non-communicable disease prevention, leading to the national Healthy Workplace Policy. 3. Reforming elderly healthcare services, home care, and nationwide nursing curriculum adjustments. 4. Reforming the health insurance system and related funds to enhance preventive health services. 5. Reforming health zone management, establishing four pilot health zone sandboxes, decentralizing health management, and creating new service models to address specific health issues. His dedication, sacrifice, patience, and commitment have earned him the Royal Award for Outstanding Physician in the Executive Group for 2022, presented on November 20, 2022, at the Ministry of Public Health, Nonthaburi Province.
