Demographer Driving Knowledge into Society :
Associate Professor Dr. Jongjit is a demographer who plays a vital role in linking population knowledge with public communication to foster understanding of Thailand’s declining birth rates and its transition into an aging society. She has consistently brought research findings to the public through national and international media, helping make population issues more relatable and accessible to the general public, and supporting the development of forward-looking public policies. Her work aligns closely with Mahidol University’s mission of applying knowledge to improve people’s quality of life, reflecting the role of an academic who translates complex demographic data into clear, understandable, and engaging communication. In addition, she has been invited to serve as a speaker and expert at numerous national academic and policy forums, demonstrating the integration of demographic expertise with communication for society. This contribution has significantly enhanced public understanding and helped prepare the country to sustainably navigate demographic changes in the 21st century. Furthermore, she is an exemplary academic advisor. Clear evidence of this is the achievement of her supervised student from the Master of Arts Program in Population and Sexual and Reproductive Health (International Program), Ms. Tshewang Yeden, who received the Outstanding Thesis Awards Promoting Mahidol University’s SDGs Policies for Fiscal Year 2024 for her thesis entitled “Factors Associated with Menstrual Hygiene Practices Among Buddhist Nuns in Bhutan.”
