National Work Standards Drafting Role :
K. Prakart has applied academic knowledge in occupational health and safety to practical use among workers in the petrochemical and refinery industries—sectors considered high-risk. His approach emphasizes prevention, including proper design from the outset, training for both executives and workers to understand their safety roles, setting safety standards, conducting risk assessments, and planning safety inspections aligned with various risks. These efforts form a critical foundation and serve as a model for government agencies in drafting occupational health and safety regulations, such as risk assessments and process safety. Additionally, he has played a national role in drafting work standards, such as particle-filtering respiratory protective equipment, on behalf of the Occupational Health and Safety at Work Association (OHSWA). You also served as chairman of the pilot project committee for managing volatile organic compound (VOC) and benzene emissions, under the Federation of Thai Industries. This project aimed to control VOC and benzene levels in the Map Ta Phut industrial area to meet standards and prevent environmental and health impacts on workers and surrounding communities. His work led to practical guidelines to mitigate these substances, including flare usage reporting, VOC emission control measures from operations, and storage tank emission controls. This initiative integrated efforts from the government, private sector, and academia. His accumulated knowledge and experience earned him the Outstanding CEO Award (Wellness Leadership for Nation Building Program, Class 3) from the Nation-Building Institute. His achievements reflect the practical application of knowledge to elevate safety standards in the Thai industry, fostering a safe and stable work environment for all.
