Dr. Sharad Kumar Sharma is a distinguished demographer with expertise in population health, reproductive health, and program evaluation. A Ph.D. graduate from Mahidol University, his innovative research on obstetric morbidity in Thailand has had a profound impact on shaping maternal health policies. He is the Deputy Chief Statistician at Nepal’s National Statistics Office (NSO). Before joining NSO, Dr. Sharma played a pivotal role under the Ministry of Health and Population in strengthening the Health Management Information System, Health System Research, and Surveillance in Nepal. He has also led several high-impact projects, including Nepal’s Tuberculosis Prevalence Survey, the Tuberculosis Patient Cost Survey, the Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response initiative, and various health system evaluations. Dr. Sharma’s expertise drives innovation and fosters societal progress through evidence-based policymaking and effective implementation.
