Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongsri is a distinguished nursing scholar who has played a pivotal role in Thailand’s tobacco control efforts. She earned her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Mahidol University and previously served as Head of the Department of Surgical Nursing. With expertise in addiction treatment and prevention, she has dedicated herself to advancing knowledge and activities for tobacco control. Her work has significantly contributed to reducing smoking rates, preventing youth initiation, and promoting sustainable cessation. She has also fostered collaboration among academia, government agencies, and civil society to drive national-level measures. For her outstanding contributions, she has received numerous prestigious awards, including Outstanding Contributor to Tobacco Control from the Department of Disease Control, Outstanding Nurse in Tobacco Control from the Nurses Association of Thailand, Thanyarak Award for excellence in addiction treatment, and Best Tobacco Control Researcher Award (2025). These achievements reflect her vital role in creating a smoke-free Thai society and promoting sustainable public health.
