Advancing Thai nursing to global standards :
Associate Professor Dr. Fongcum is deeply proud to be an alumnus of the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University. She serves as an exemplary role model in personal conduct, leadership, and professional dedication for students, faculty members, and staff of the faculty. Moreover, she is a shining example in the nursing profession, particularly in the areas of educational development, research, and promoting public health, earning her the admiration and affection of all. She is a visionary leader in nursing, initiating a forward-thinking approach that positions the faculty as a key driver in enhancing societal well-being. Her efforts have led to the production of nursing graduates with strong professional competencies who can effectively address public health challenges. She has shared her extensive knowledge and experience in nursing and health, and has conducted research that guides and informs the development of health service policies in Thailand. Her contributions have greatly benefited society. She has continuously supported the development of the Nursing Journal, raising its standards to meet international levels. Through funding from the Office of the Higher Education Commission, she improved the journal’s quality until it received the National TCI-SCOPUS-TRF Journal Award, Thailand’s first national-level award in this category—an honor and source of pride for the Faculty of Nursing. Additionally, she has placed great importance on building international collaborative networks to elevate the Faculty of Nursing to global prominence. She signed over 20 memoranda of understanding with institutions across Asia, Europe, Australia, Canada, and the United States. Key activities include faculty and student exchanges, international academic conferences, and co-founding the Asia Pacific for Health Leaders Forum (APHAL). She also hosted the first summit of nursing education leaders in ASEAN, helping Mahidol University’s Faculty of Nursing gain international recognition.
“Gratitude towards the Faculty of Nursing, love for the profession, and dedication to work have provided opportunities to work in various roles, including as a lecturer, administrative team member, program chair, and dean of the Faculty of Nursing. It is a great honor and pride to be part of the continuous development of the Faculty of Nursing, committed to producing high-quality “nurses of the nation” with a heart of giving at the bachelor’s, master's, doctoral, and specialized nursing levels. Additionally, the faculty produces research and provides academic services to improve the health and well-being of the public and society, in line with the royal speech of Her Majesty Queen Sripatcharintra, which states, ‘...nursing is not only beneficial for nursing itself but also for the nourishment of our nation and country...’” Proud to be Mahidol Alumni by Assoc.
