Thai scientist who elevated medical industry :
Prof. Dr. Sansanee received the Young Scientist Award for her discovery of a trypsin-insensitive ligand on the surface of red blood cells infected with Plasmodium falciparum malaria and a new adhesion molecule on endothelial cells. These discoveries led to the identification of new antigens on the surface of infected red blood cells, which are involved in the adhesion of red blood cells to endothelial cells, a mechanism believed to contribute to cerebral malaria. Currently, she plays a significant role in advancing academic and medical research through her positions as an expert in various national funding and research promotion roles. These include chairing the Health and Medical Program Subcommittee of the National Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (NCEF), serving on the executive board of the Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (TCELS), and being a member of subcommittees on higher education research, policy and planning, and university transformation.
“Careers are a lifelong journey full of growth, learning, and giving back. As a higher education professional, this journey has come full circle by returning to where it all began - Mahidol University. Working at my Alma Mater has been an extremely rewarding experience. Being a part of this institution not only makes me feel empowered and inspired, but it allows me to make meaningful contributions by nurturing minds and inspiring change to positively impact the lives of others. That is why I take immense pride in being a Mahidol University Alumni!” Proud to be Mahidol Alumni by Prof. Dr. Sansanee Chaiyaroj
