Public Health Officer tackling global warming:
Suwanna initiated the Bangkok Action Plan on Global Warming Mitigation to reduce GHG  emissions sustainably in Bangkok. Bangkok is the capital city with a carbon dioxide emissions rate of 7.1 tons per capita per year (2007) In 2006, Bangkok  Metropolitan  Administration (BMA) decided to draft the  Action Plan on Global Warming  Mitigation  2007-2012  to reduce GHG emissions by at least 15 % of the total GHG emission anticipated in the year 2012 under business as usual projection. The results of the action plan implementation reduced carbon dioxide emissions in 2012 by 14.3 percent. However, the Action Plan was successful in initiating work to address climate change issues, therefore the  Bangkok  Metropolitan  Administration (BMA)  has set up the Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2013-2023 under cooperation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the local government of Yokohama City, Japan. The Master Plan has a target GHG emissions by at least 13.57 percent from the projected  BAU  by 2020

“View every problem as a challenge. Mahidol University has taught us to be rational, unafraid of arising issues, to use scientific reasoning to solve problems, and to maintain an optimistic outlook. This has provided opportunities for success. I am very proud to have had the chance to become a member and graduate from here.” Proud to be Mahidol Alumni by K. Suwanna Jungrungrueng
